Hello guys
I started surfing in September 2024, obviously fell in love with it !
Currently in Indo at the moment for a surf trip, I have this video of me, my best wave of the day…
A lot to fix obviously, nothing more humbling then to see yourself on video, in my mind I was riping haha.

I’ve noticed that I’m using my arms pretty badly, my butt also is sticking out, way to much.
Need to understand how to use the energy of the wave to trim down the line, which I was trying to do while pumping badly 😂…

Do you have some tips to help me with that please ? Obviously gonna take some time but I’m working on it !

Thx 🤙

Hello guys, I'm Álvaro from Peru, and I started learning to surf 8 months ago. I usually surfed twice a month, but now I'm in the Gold Coast practicing three times a week. However, I'm struggling to improve.

I think I'm pretty bad, and maybe I can't get better because I'm using this board to practice. The reason is that my car is a Suzuki Alto, a small one, so I can't bring my other board, which is a 6'10"—though maybe it's still not long enough. Anyway, I'm not sure how to improve with what I have since I can't make any changes for now. I'm living in Surfers Paradise. Do you have any suggestions on how to get better using this board?

P.S. If anyone is living near Surfers or in the Gold Coast, is also learning, or wants a Padawan, let's connect! 🤙🏻

Hi all,
I’ve been trying to work on leaning in my turns so my body isn’t as stacked/balanced over the board but my latest session at the wave pool still looking very much upright. I’ve bought a surf skate to help. Any tips/drills I should focus on appreciated!

Line 1: Lesson 4 |The Breakthrough – Looking Where You Want To Go

This lesson uncovers the importance of choosing the right waves and focusing on where you want to go to achieve smooth, relaxed rides. It explains how cleaner, more predictable waves with laminar flow—where water moves smoothly off the bottom—create the ideal conditions for speed, balance, and adjustments. Students will learn why foamies are useful for initial skills but limit progression and how to identify waves that allow for proper trimming and connection with the wave’s energy.Key Concepts:Wave Energy: Understanding that waves are moving energy within water, which surfers aim to harness.Foamies vs. Clean Waves: Why foamies are great for basic skills but less suitable for building flow and speed.Laminar Flow: Clean waves with smooth water flow provide lift, speed, and time for adjustments.Vision and Line Selection: Looking at the right part of the wave and choosing the correct line for a smoother ride.Relaxation and Adjustment: How clean waves enable a relaxed stance and subtle corrections.Key Outcome:By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify and select cleaner waves, look in the right direction, and trim smoothly across the wave face. This breakthrough skill creates the foundation for advancing to higher levels of speed and flow.Lesson Timestamps:00:00 - 00:41: Surfing Chaos: Understanding wave energy and the challenges of foamies.00:41 - 01:20: Clean Waves: Identifying laminar flow and its benefits for speed and balance.01:20 - End: The Right Line: Relaxing, trimming, and making adjustments for smoother rides.

Hello everyone :) happy to start my Journey here

“Tension” Aha Moment…Now and then we all wake up with a stiff neck from sleeping wrong on our pillow right? Well I was almost healed and went surfing. Whilst waiting for a wave I had full range to turn my head with only slight discomfort.

I took off on a wave and BOOM I couldn’t even move my neck. Total paralysis. I paddled back out and sat … moved fine. Why?

I was tense and my sore neck exasperated it.

Here is me that same session with a stiff neck but consciously relaxing.

Really drove home Clayton’s point about stiffness and tension killing your movements

Looking for feedback. Was not working on training or trimming. Position, popup, stance, etc. Thanks.

Hello OMBE team,

It feels like I'm rushing through the waves, thinking they're fast. In my head, I know I should be using more of the wave's up and down motion, even if I can't reach a full figure 8. I would appreciate any advice on what I should focus on.

Is anybody thinking of visiting (or owning on) the fabled 7-mile miracle of Oahu's North Shore? If so, please check out the website for my home: https://www.laniakeabeachhouse.com/.

I attached an image of a surfer riding a giant wave, viewed from inside the house. Himalayas.
