Late 40's, 5 years in, nearest surf 5 hours away, but now starting some ombe land based training. Want to go from Adv Beg to Avg Joe!!🤞🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼

Looks awesome. Nice drill. Jealous of both the access to a skatepark with such a wide quarter pipe and apparently daily waves.

Surf addiction + landlocked = 😑

Just create a second separate post if you can't add it to the original.

Any landlocked surfers out there heading to any of the OMBE retreats coming up? I'm stoked to be headed to the March 17-22 in Popoyo. How are you prepping for the trip?

Thanks for all the feedback. I can definitely see the points.

- Looking where I wanted to go and so angling my line on the takeoff and then get my coffee cup out in front

- stand tall/stacked (which I'm guessing would shift my weight more to the front foot)

- With my back foot, I found that I practiced on land and built that habit of keeping my heel up, but when I surfed like that it was really unstable. So I'll be practicing keeping my heel down for my lad based training. Thanks for the comparison of land vs water! That's awesome.

Much appreciate all the help. Nice to know what I need to work one.

Looking for feedback. Was not working on training or trimming. Position, popup, stance, etc. Thanks.

Emily Brooks Thanks so much for the advice! I did mean tight Achilles 😁 But I do have a pain in my 1-3rd metatarsal heads when I really crank down on the foot. Started after a long skateboarding session after not doing it for 20 years last summer when I decided to try surf skating. Been babying it since as best as I can.

Standing up straighter would definitely fix the problem (which maybe isn't such a problem anyways).

Thanks again.

Feedback please 🙏🏼 I've been working on my popup using feedback from the community.

Also, I'm working on my Achilles and can't my back foot to lay down more than that. Suggestions?

Hi Matt, welcome! I started surfing about the same age and though I'm not great, I can tell you that is awesome if you can have that set up. Nothing quite prepares you for paddling like, well, paddling. Tough to catch waves if you can't paddle out and then paddle constantly for position.

I'm jealous of that setup. I have access to a public pool so I have to settle for swimming.

Thanks man, that's a good point about my back foot not hitting before the front. I'll try to correct that
