@Philipp Unterreiner - Clay often gives the analogy of riding a bicycle. If you're riding slowly and you lean, you'll fall off, so you need to twist instead.Conversely, if you're going fast, then you need to lean into the turn. So, yes, speed does make a difference, but you still need to be front on to be able to look where you're going and pass the coffee there.

Nice take off and walk up, but then you seem to be riding back foot heavy as the nose of the board is way up in the air.

This slows you down and you get caught by the lip.

If you bring your coffee cup arm up and forward so you stack on the front foot you'd be able to get more twist on the bottom turn and then lift the coffee to the lip 👍

Ok, the conditions don't look particularly great as the waves are closing out pretty quickly and I think that's probably what's making you rush out onto the shoulder because you want to try to get as long a ride as possible before it dumps.

But maybe you could go more nose to the beach so you can put in a tighter bottom turn and then try to get to the lip before twisting back to the foam instead?

Clayton Nienaber You need to set up a timer in front of you ⏰️

(Or get the people you're paying for the platform to fix it so you can record for longer)

I never thought there would be much connection between surfing and skiing, but...

I'm in the Three Valleys in France at the moment, but I'd been having problems controlling my line and speed on pistes that are steep or icy, so I decided to get a lesson.

My instructor pointed out that I wasn't pushing my knees down and into the front of my boots enough and that I should reach forward and down with my inside hand.

Light bulb!

"Oh, you mean compress the front leg and push the coffee cup through the turn!"

I then had to explain about OMBE and surfing, but using that simple thing, which i already knew, made it so much easier 👍🙂

I can see now what you were talking about, that entry is a bit awkward.

It's definitely looking better, what I'd suggest now is maybe trying to compress and get the coffee cup arm more forward as you go into that turn as I think you may be rushing it and you're trying to force the turn early.

I posted a pic of John John Florence's "surfboard hand" yesterday, perhaps you could try the same thing?

I had a similar problem, so, when I'm in this position, I push up on what will be my front knee and, at the same time, extend my back leg straight out behind me.

This helps me with the hip lift so I can get the back foot in place before I scoop the front leg through.

Maybe it will work for you too?

John Kuras I'll look forward to seeing it from another angle 👍

You could always use a bag or something else to support the camera 🙂

John Kuras I think if you look again at Ant's posture, his head is up and looking to where he wants to go and his knees are kissing more so his back is straighter.

BTW I'd recommend getting a Gorilla pod Tripod by Joby, they're really versatile.

You can find them on Amazon etc, but watch out for cheap knock-off copies that aren't as well made and tend to break.

If you want to turn off the lip, the first thing you need to do is to look at it, then point at it, then extend up to it, unfortunately it doesn't look like any of these are happening ☹️

You go where you look and point, but at the moment everything is pointing down...
