Coryn Daniel that's totally true and for sure I'll go bro. OMBE has helped me a lot to understand surfing, I'm trying to improve my English to be able to understand everything tho.

Don Chennavasin Hey bro, cheers for the comment!

Well, I'm struggling with reading the waves, positioning, and taking off in a way that allows me to turn instead of just going straight. I usually surf in spots that aren’t ideal for beginners, and to be honest, I don’t really know where the good beginner-friendly spots are. On top of that, the places I surf are usually too crowded.

The waves break too fast for me—other surfers can catch them, but I usually don’t.

Height: 1.71m

Weight: 70kg

Fitness level: Moderate (I work out twice a week, but I get tired after an hour).

Board: 5’10", 35L (I bought it on sale, which is why I went for it).

Also, my duck diving sucks. I blame the board because it’s too wide in the center, although, of course, it's probably just me🤣

Clayton Nienaber Cheers for that mate! I’d really appreciate that. Which day would work for you guys? Would next week be okay? on Monday maybe?

Graham Marsden The car is too small and even unstable in the wind, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do it. I have seen people installing racks on small cars, though. But if I did that and carried a longboard, I feel like the board would be heavier than the car, lol.

On the other hand, people aren’t always open to sharing or helping out. Also, the English barrier is always there🙃.

I mean, I'll try to do it for sure, but I'm just explaining the situation. I really appreciate the comment mate🤙🏻

Michiel van Gerven At my local break, I could just walk there, but the waves are really, really bad. So I'm not sure if practicing in that spot would actually help me improve.

To be honest, I’m pretty confused about how to improve because there’s so much information available. Maybe it’s also because I didn’t fully complete my beginner phase and jumped to a shorter board too soon.

I really appreciate your comments, though🤙🏻

Michiel van Gerven thanks for the comment, mate! I'll focus on that.

Sometimes I manage to catch the wave, but it doesn’t happen often. The spots I usually go to are always crowded, so positioning is really challenging for me.

Also, I struggle with the takeoff for turning, especially placing my feet on the tail to be able to go from side to side instead of just going straight.

Hello guys, I'm Álvaro from Peru, and I started learning to surf 8 months ago. I usually surfed twice a month, but now I'm in the Gold Coast practicing three times a week. However, I'm struggling to improve.

I think I'm pretty bad, and maybe I can't get better because I'm using this board to practice. The reason is that my car is a Suzuki Alto, a small one, so I can't bring my other board, which is a 6'10"—though maybe it's still not long enough. Anyway, I'm not sure how to improve with what I have since I can't make any changes for now. I'm living in Surfers Paradise. Do you have any suggestions on how to get better using this board?

P.S. If anyone is living near Surfers or in the Gold Coast, is also learning, or wants a Padawan, let's connect! 🤙🏻
