I'm no expert, but here's some of the things I've seen Clay and others say:1) Generally, when paddling, you want the nose an inch or two out of the water. Lower and it will just bury itself, higher and you're wasting energy pushing water with the rocker.2) Don't worry about your back foot is. Watch some of the OMBE videos where they analyse the surfing of the pros, the front foot should stay around the widest part of the board so you can stack on it, the back foot moves around to wherever it's needed.3) To find your approximate Neutral Stance, stand with your feet at 45 degrees to a line, then pivot your back foot on its heel so it's at 90 degrees to your front foot. Pivot the back foot again, on the ball of the foot, until it's parallel with the front foot.Stack, then compress and extend on the front foot and let your back foot settle where it's comfortable and that's roughly your stance length.Hope this helps 👍

Michiel van Gerven  That's a good point, I'm tending to look down at the bank or, at best, at the coping. I'll have to try looking higher next time, thanks! 👍

Nice, you've got a smooth turn and a good twist, passing the coffee cup through the turn.I'd say the next thing is to try getting your arms to go more to 12 o'clock to get more height on the ramp and tighten the turn 👍

What board do you usually ride? You don't want to change too drastically, otherwise you'll spend a lot of time trying to learn to handle a different one.

Gregg Arbittier Clay would probably say that concentrating on making sure you're stacking on your front foot, which should be on the widest part of the board, is more important.

Let your back foot just go wherever feels comfortable.

The question I'd ask is: Are you actually going to use it, ie do you really need the grip to be able to snap the board vertically off the lip? It always made me laugh when places would rent beginners' boards with tail pads because they looked cooler that way 😂

Wow, that was incredible! 😮Although I have to say that, whilst I was watching it I was thinking "Yep, stacking on the front foot, coffee cup, pushing the shopping trolley..." 👍
