I'd suggest that your issue is here:

As you stand up, you're bending over from the waist and that's destabilising you.

If you can drop your hips and raise the elbows, that should help you straighten your back.

Also don't look down at the board...

Scott Wagenblast IIRC Clay and Ant did a Coach's Eye breakdown of John John Florence's surfing.

This photo shows how he's compressing on the bottom turn and using his coffee cup hand like a surfboard, skimming the surface of the wave.

I'd suggest this would be a good thing to work on.

I think you're right about changing your focus.

On the screenshot, you're already fully extended, but you haven't finished the bottom turn, so you've got got nothing to do when you're going up the wave.

Hold the bottom turn longer, then extend and lift your elbows so you can point at the lip.

Angelina Steph As I recall, when you're turning frontside, you can touch your cheek with the back of your rear hand to help you twist through the turn.

PS yes, we do miss Ant ☹️

In one of the surf skate videos where Ant is practising a frontside top turn, Clay suggests that, as he twists, he opens his arms like he's going to give the camera a Bear Hug 👍

Now that looks better! 👍 You get the front arm out of the way and look back at where you want to go.

The next issue I'd suggest is that, after the cut back, you go mid-face and bend at the waist, instead of going top to bottom and rebounding off the foam.

It's certainly better, but I think you're right about the front arm.

Also you're back foot heavy and not looking to the foam where you want to go.
