Hi Darren. Take a breath and relax before paddling as your shorting into a high stress mode. Slow and smooth will be faster. Try find a neutral stance on the board. You are all on the back leg and fall backwards with any forward acceleration. If you can relax you will be able to recognise nd feel acceleration and shift incrementally forwards to compensate. It’s a natural phase you’re progressing into but rushing faster robs enjoyment
