We run the full gamut here! From ankle biters to double overhead + (typically that would be a hurricane swell).

These are all here at the same surf spot. I have to post them separately.

I was comfortable up to head high or a bit higher before surgery. Surgeon put the fear of god in me regarding surfing again. He strongly advised me not to. I finally convinced him to give me the green light and he called it at waist high.

Hate to say, I’ve been out in bigger than waist high waves but the waves were gentle.

Regarding your height and the wave’s height; we’re all the same height paddling for the wave. Head high is 5ft. Overhead is 6ft plus. Chest high is 4ft. Etc. The scariest part of head high or better is looking at the surf from a paddling position! Hawaii wave height is a whole different beast!!
