Libby Stano We are so hard on ourselves, aren’t we? Ask any beginner and he/she would be thrilled to have videos like these. Your awareness of what you should and shouldn’t be doing is a win! Just knowing that is super helpful. Watching videos of myself initially was definitely horrific but they have become such an incredible tool to truly fine tune on land and in water moves. I don’t even view my videos anymore as a whole. I break them down in slo mo so I can identify the issue. Or what I’ve done right. After months of my new walk up style on land, I’m finding that these things are now happening automatically in the water. So much so that after the wave I’m like, did I actually pass the coffee cup or push the trolley? 🙌 It’s the little victories!!

I do not have any comments regarding your surfing because you’re already aware of the things you wish to fix. I’m sure you had a blast in the moment either way! 😀😀

As far as Bali… that sounds amazing! I wish that part of the world was closer. I can’t bare more than a 7 hour plane ride. 3 hours is my ideal. 😀

Trigger words. I don’t know if you remember our conversation about buoyancy, and we started discussing our walk ups. I remember telling you that my action word is rise. To prevent me from rounding my back— after the second smaller triangle I just need to rise. Nothing else. That has helped me getting into a nice neutral stance front on like I’m skateboarding.

After day in day out repetitions, I felt myself just rising after the second triangle on the walk up with coffee cup in hand when out in the ocean 😀 It felt great.

My left leg (back leg) still cannot support the weight of my entire body but I continue to plug away on exercises to activate the muscles.

You have 2 more sessions here?

I am super confused as to which app to use and when and why. Are you talking about the Mighty app?

Agreed! Just go.

I could be there within a few hours flight or by car. I would definitely be in for that, too!

Great article, thank you for sharing. It’s so true! Some of the best days have been in these situations where you’re just like eff it, let’s paddle out.

And in a shameless plug (for my hubby, Rob) during hurricane Hermine in our backyard surfing, he was photographed and in a feature on The Inertia. He’s surfer image #9 or #10, depending on how it loads in the photo gallery. I went out 2 days after and caught some of the best waves of my life! I remember sitting out on my balcony watching him surf; I called his cell phone to leave him a voicemail just to tell him how he just caught some of the most beautiful waves ever… a little momento from Hermine.

Surfing is definitely for those that never give up. I remember how many times I’ve paddled out only to have my head handed to me… and paddled out again the next day. Two hours on my board, at the wrong bus stop. And how many times I’ve fallen off my board. Yet, here I still am at it. I can relate!!

Hope you’re feeling less zombie-like. Hope Nicaragua was amazing. I’m on the list for next March. 😀

Will we have to upload new videos or will you use the ones that were already uploaded for the one for yesterday?
