Libby Stano Yes, I agree. There’s no mold. We definitely will do that thing very differently. I love watching Dee Pnak walk up. She has a very unique style, it’s so very different than mine— I can watch hers over and over! I don’t have an opinion as to which is the right way. If it works for us, why not? I do think, like you posted recently, practicing perfectly…. makes perfect [for you].

Do you remember Claudia Schiffer when she was modeling in her early twenties? I was watching a documentary on all the supermodels and she did everything “wrong”. Her walk was wrong, her turns, her smiles, her facial gestures… yet she was highly sought after and commanding big bucks!

Sounds like you have a lot of great memories there with your kids!! Sometimes it is a choice between performance and convience or just the vibe. Definitely stay away from Curl Curl, that even sounds gnarly!

When I’m doing my land drills, I video them and take a look after each in slo mo so I can see what I need to tweak. I noticed something in my land drill videos this morning that was so minor yet what an absolute revelation. I will video tape it again thiis week when I’m dressed better 🤣

I have a G&S cruiser (skateboard) !!! I love it, the deck is so flexible. It’s falling apart but I refuse to let it go! When I called Bing a few years ago to make me a new board, Gordon’s granddaughter, Mele Saili recommended the Bing Trimulux for me for our East coast slop since she was familiar with one of our breaks over here and had great rides with that Trimulux.

Have you ever watched videos of Mele surfing?

Libby Stano Living through a blizzard requires impeccable skills, for sure!! 🤣 It gets pretty cold. I remember it being much colder when we were kids though. We need a full suit/hood 5/4 with 7 mm booties and gloves. We’re in 3mm summer mornings, with maybe the exception of August The water temp in the winter is about the same as it is in Iceland 🤣We’ve been out in 5F air temp, too. Must be nice to be somewhere with plenty of waves and typically 1mm. I’m actually quite surprised you need wetsuits at all. I’m still trying to find that magic suit!!

Which is the closest break to you?

I hope to take a CA trip soon… I hope we can meet up!, Roxy Susanne Gunther !! Which breaks do you typically surf at?

I remember when I started surfing, it was late in the season in NY. As the water was getting colder I found myself having a harder and harder time getting up. I was fumbling about a bit and getting really frustrated. I was so annoyed with myself, truly!! It took me a while to realize that as I was getting into heavier rubber, I was losing my flexibility. I was not bringing my hands back as far down by my torso on the deck of my surfboard making it nearly impossible for me to get to my feet. It’s always the little things. 😱🤣

That’s awesome!!! 👏 Congratulations, share pics or video if you have. 🏄🥳🎈

What were you riding?

Hi Libby, it seems like you’ve been changing up your walk up a bit since the other videos. You’re a bit more folded in half, like you’re going to dive into a pool. Not sure if you’re noticing that in your land drills and in the water.

Does it help knowing my numbers? No, it’s just data that I like to look at. 😀
