It does translate into the water. Assuming the waves where you live allow that kind of surfing. And if course a tight top turn requires a a deep bottom turn, which requires the right line etc etc.

There are different types of top turns. A vertical snap is a lot like a kick turn but you can also do for instance a carve. It depends on the wave and how it needs to be surfed. Reading and adjusting is all part of the game.

Rohan yeah there must be some serious current too at that size. Staying in shape for that is definitely a challenge for me too.

A general quality of life tip for recording. I typically just let the camera run for several runs (up to about 15 minutes) and cut out the dead stuff later. Probably easier than having to sprint around all the time. Also where I live the Action sells a €3 tripod/selfie stick that is really good for setting up your phone. Beats leaning it against bags etc.

John Dennis o absolutely. Snowboarding is pretty much fully side on unless you do a posi posi stance. Good for carving, which I guess makes sense.

Reminds me a lot of when I started skating. Keep at it, you'll be amazed how far you can get in a short time with consistent practice.

Try freezing the frame at two seconds. Your left arm is coming over to the right side of the board. That'll block your shoulder from opening up. (And make you fall once you start taking steeper lines).

With regards to the coloured line. Obviously I'm not Clayton, but every wave will be different so there really is no point to trying to adapt to a specific line.
