You didn't hold it for long enough 🙂

You need to get back to the foam, then use that to push you back down the wave.

Nice improvement.

I think possibly you're still a bit back foot heavy. Maybe try lifting the elbow on your front arm with your hand up as you go up the wave which may help you open the shoulder when you twist.

For your first try in years, that's looking good 👍

Sure, there's things to work on, a bit more extension as you go up and look through the turns a bit more, but you seem pretty relaxed and you're not overdoing things, so I'd be happy if I were you 🙂

Sascha Great to hear that 👍

Hope to see some more video soon.

Sascha Imagine you wanted to stand in your stance for a long time. If you stand crouched like you are, your muscles will get tired very quickly.

Instead, stand with your shoulder, hip, front knee and ankle in a vertical line and it's easy to stay like that for a much longer time.

Look under Browse/ Insiders Surf Lab/ Surf Start and you'll find plenty of explanations 👍

It looks like a good start, but if I had one word of advice for you it would be "relax" 🙂

You're in what Clay calls "freeze" mode, once you stand up, you're just staring straight ahead and your position doesn't change all the way along the ride.

When you get the surf skate, practice stacking on the front foot so your bones are supporting you instead of your muscles (which is tiring), then you'll be able to look along the face of the wave and turn your hips so you can point your arms where you want to go 👍

I believe there are some videos of Clay using some sort of back mounted camera setup, but I don't know what model it is.

You do appear to be racing down the line a bit, although it appears to be a fairly fast wave, but you could try going more top to bottom.

I would suggest checking out the Stick Surfing drills to help you concentrate on getting your hands out in front, like your board has handlebars.

Personally I use a length of webbing that I can wrap around my wrist and tuck into my sleeve when I'm paddling which is easier than trying to hold a stick in my teeth! 😬

The coffee cup is always in the back hand, it encourages you to keep the shoulders and chest pointing forward so you can look to both sides and especially back at the foam.
