Patrick McMahon If you can't find a bowl, any slope eg a ramp or driveway would help 👍

You're looking nice and relaxed, but I think your problem is that you're standing on your back foot which means you can't twist.

Look at where your weight is and the angle of the nose. If you got your hips forward so you're stacked on the front leg, you'd be able to twist and look back at the foam instead of gazing way down the line.

Try some surf skating in a bowl and get on the front foot and you should find it much easier 👍

Maria Molè The long grey hair in a pony tail is a bit distinctive 🙃

A couple of years ago I was sitting on my board at Croyde, waiting for a wave, when a guy who was free swimming across the Bay came past, then stopped and said "It's Graham, isn't it? We met at the OMBE session at The Wave in Bristol!" 😲👍

PS I forgot to mention, but in the car park after, I was chatting with another surfer and he said "are you part of the OMBE group? I think I recognise you"!

His name was Joe and he's not a full member, but he follows Surf Hacks on FB 👍

Maria Molè That's OK, I thought for a moment you were watching when driving! 😲

Maria Molè I hope you do only mean "listening"... 🤔

John Kuras Thanks, I'll give that a try 👍

John Kuras Thanks for the recommendation, although the ceramic bearings are seriously expensive 😲

John Kuras I think a light bulb has just switched on! 💡

I have a feeling that that was the explanation I have been looking for...

I've always been back foot heavy (I have weird hips), so I've been trying to avoid putting any pressure on the tail and only use the front leg, just trying to keep my hips forward.

But if I understand correctly what you're saying, when I extend I should be using my back leg to push my hips forward at the same time, is that right?

Tom Tebbatt Good point, I'm going to have to watch it again.
