The change I noticed the most, is that I became a lot more calm on the board, which lead to me remember more and I could remind myself to get more on the front foot.

So now, I feel I am more stable and I think that has allowed me to look and turn my shoulder more.

Progress is an interesting thing... It feels like it takes forever, body movements are hard, remembering is difficult, don't feel like we getting anywhere then all of a sudden something happens and there's flow... and it's like the struggle never happened.

I had been struggling since day one to get my left arm to open up, it has been as if it is not even a part of me.

Then I went for a surf this weekend and I was like.... Whaaaaat??

I am still in disbelief of myself.

Mindset, discipline, and sometimes just going for it makes a big difference.

Lift your coffee cup arm up, it will help you straighten up, and you'll be able to look and twist better.

Hey Will... If you bring your front foot back a bit the board will loosen up more, it is difficult to turn when the front foot so forward. Your stance looks exactly like mine when I was starting 😀

I can't see your pop up, are you perhaps putting your front foot forward first?

Surf skate will help, and you can also cut a piece of cardboard that is the same length as the correct stance, then practice your walk up on that to get muscle and placement memory.

After a few rounds of that, begin to incorporate the cardboard slide. Practicing on a BOSU will also help with not stepping too far.

Hey Nick, sucks about the shoulder!

For a low budget good enough quality cam I also recommend the Sony HDR-CX405... It's the one I use, very compact, great zoom. The footage I upload is shot with the cam and the distance between can be up to 100m away. The quality suffers a little the further out it zooms. Still good enough to provide feedback.

I would recommend getting a spare battery set -depends on how long your record times will be- because the Sony battery does not last long.

I also recommend a tri-pod... One with a fluid head. It is difficult to follow moving things smoothly with the standard photo camera tripod, and you WILL miss a critical moment because the tripod jerks as you try pan or tilt to follow the action. There are low budget options, like Velbon.

Heal up soon... sure the extra beach time is going to help as well 😀

Thank you... Was surprised I actually made this one... Starting to get luckier with these... 😉

oh why thank you. 😁

Thank you... Although, with the narrow nose of that board, it kinda just happens. lol I can't take full credit 😂

Hey Michiel van Gerven I remember you asking for some tips on hitting the lip late, here is an example of a succesful attempt I managed yesterday 😁

The lip is on it's way down here so my timing was still ok and the wave power wasn't huge so it worked out.

Hey Matt, and welcome. I think paddling in the pool will help a lot for your fitness as well as body conditioning, as in the position of your body. Muscles from your neck down to your hamstrings will get a workout while in the paddling position which will help a lot for stamina.

I second Dean... Wish I had that setup 😉
