Feeling good on the compression and extension frontside. However, when I go to do a cutback, rail bogs (spelling?). It's happening pretty frequently. Any thoughts here?

Is anyone around Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs keen to do surf training in the OMBE style together?
I’m working through the 12-week surf smart program and just finished week 4, so I thought I’d post for a 1/3 way through check in.
I feel like it’s a clean pop up, but I’m embarrassingly stiff. Any advice in loosening up or in general? I feel that I could have built speed better as well. Should I have tried to pump up and down the face or taken a higher line from the takeoff?
Hello everyone! My name is Ryuichi Inoue - feel free to call me ‘Ry’. I’m originally from Japan, and I’m a surfing coach at Surf Lab.
Here’s a bit more about myself ↓
I’ve been learning and training with Clayton for over 10 years, and I’m currently competing on the WSL while coaching at Surf Lab in Currumbin on the Gold Coast. I love traveling and exploring new places, so competing internationally fits perfectly with my lifestyle. I studied a Bachelor of Business on the Gold Coast, and I’ve now completed my studies. I’m ready and waiting for you at the Surf Lab!
I’ll be sharing more through the Surf Lab app and social media, so I hope you’ll follow along.
Here’s my Instagram too👇

I’m available for 3day & 5day workshop, 1:1 coaching and membership surfs and skates. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at Surf Lab 🤙
Waco Texas surf Ranch in May 2025. I look very unstable at the top but get my legs under me
Embracing the suck. I now realize that I am more of a beginner than an intermediate when I look at my videos. Putting my ego aside I must get to the fundamentals. this video highlight illustrates a few things I race to the bottom run out of speed and I am surfing sideways
Today at Bracklesham it was a lovely clear winter's day, glassy smooth, running 3 feet at 18 seconds which is incredibly rare, so, despite having done a couple of hours practise at Aldershot dry ski slope yesterday, which left me feeling pretty tired, I had to get out for a surf!
There were a couple of other drawbacks, firstly, because I was working on my skiing fitness, I hadn't been swimming for ages, and, secondly, I was wearing a brand new 5/4/3 wetsuit which was nice and warm, but a real struggle to get into and these made paddling very difficult 😕
Still, I had some nice rides and, after about 90 minutes, instead of quitting, I had some sandwiches and chocolate and went back out for another 30 minutes.
In the second session, I probably did some of my best surfing ever, but my Gopro had run out of battery and the surf cam wasn't working, so unfortunately I've not got any videos ☹️
Oh well, I had a good time anyway 🤙
Here's hoping the same conditions will happen some time soon...
I have enjoyed watching your videos on YouTube and I thought I would ask for some advice to improve my surfing.
I wonder what the changes to OMBE will be?
Surflab sounds interesting
