Hi Ombe community, I think the reason of me struggling with cutback is that I didn’t look back the pocket and I didn’t hold my turn.

But would appreciate if someone can point out other serious issues. Maybe my stance is too wide or too heavy on the back foot? 🤔

Clayton Nienaber Thanks Clayton! I guess since I use a bigger board (7’2) I should sit more out than surfer with shortboards, because bigger board will be lift more vertically ?

Thank you so much Emily! I’m in El Salavador and the wave I’m feeling very hard to manage is K59. I should definitely try Sunzal

Thank you so much Graham! I’m talking about reef mainly. Sometimes I don’t know if I’m sitting too deep or the wave is just big / more powerful. But yeah I think angle is the generally recommended approach even though I found when I angle it’s a bit hard to balance

A kook here new to the community 😃 A question I'm dying to know: I wonder if in general most waves will give you time to glide before pop up?

When I surf bigger (4-6 ft) / more powerful wave, the moment wave approaches me, the water beneath me become very steep and I feel a strong power. I get panicked and want to standup but it's too difficult because of the steepness (I definitely looked at the bottom). I actually don't know if I have time to glide.

I wonder is that a sign of me sitting too deep, or it's natural that bigger / more powerful wave will give that feeling and I can glide and pop up even if the water beneath me seems steep?

Much appreciated for anyone who could share their thoughts 🙏
