Exciting Changes Ahead! 🌊We’ve restructured our footage review process to make it more beneficial for everyone. While live sessions will be on pause as we adapt to new dynamics with our two candidates, we’re thrilled to announce a fresh approach: your submissions will now be reviewed and shared here in the community! Here’s why we’re embracing this new method:✔️More Engagement: Posting reviews here encourages interaction and brings our quieter members into the conversation. Lives were limiting, as only those free at the time could participate.✔️Flexibility for Clay: With a packed schedule of retreats next year, this setup allows Clay to review submissions remotely during his downtime—ensuring faster and more consistent feedback.✔️Easier Access: Every review and takeaway will be visible to everyone, making it simpler to learn and improve without sifting through past live sessions.✔️Focused Feedback: This organized system will help you concentrate on specific areas to improve.🔔 A few reminders: • Submit one video at a time to give everyone a fair chance for feedback. • Avoid submitting distant or surf-cam footage—Clay needs clear visuals to provide effective, actionable advice. We can’t thank you enough for your support, patience, and understanding as we work through these changes together. Your willingness to adapt and grow with us means the world, and we’re so appreciative of this amazing community. 🙏P.S. I’ve added a Google sheet in the comments for tracking your submissions. If you’d like your older footage skipped, simply select “Y” in column F. This will indicate you’re uploading newer training footage. If you select “N,” Clay will proceed with reviewing your current submission. Let us know if you have any questions!

Hi! I'll be in Indo in one month approx. I am looking for help selecting the board I should choose. I am a intermediate/lower intermediate surfer, I can do non radical turns in the waves (which I would like to improve/radicalize) and I can get inside of barrels but haven't properly gotten out of one.

I like decently sized waves and I'm looking to get into bigger stuff while there, though I haven't ever been in anything proper big, and probably won't be on this trip.

I am 1m83cm and weigh around 80kg and I am in good(ish) paddling shape.

I was thinking Indo rocket from Jim Banks, around 6'2 6'3 but this is my first time in Indo and first time surfing proper shallow reef so I am totally open to suggestions and recommendations.

I am looking for all rounder that shines when the surf is good and one I can get a proper barrel if the opportunity arises.

If there's any more info needed please let me know, thank you very very much in advance.

Best,

Trufa

Thoughts on adding a tail pad to a mid length?  Just got a 7’ custom mid length that is geared a little more toward the performance side.  So plan on doing more than just trimming down the line.  But if we are mostly weighing to the front foot on our turns, does it make sense to still have a tail pad?

Hi guys, Im surfing a beach break which closes out 99% of the time. Im thinking about the positives such as working on my pop up, duck diving and bottom turn before the wave closes out.
Is there any other areas which I could work on? Many thanks.

Here's a good article, especially for those of us who don't live near "perfect" breaks...

Hey guys,

Does anyone has a definied workout routine? I mean like how many repetitions or series, and how many times at a week about each movement?

When I pop up, sometimes I do it really wel and can surf the line. However, sometimes when I’m popping up, I get up and fall forward, falling in front of my board and the board then drops on top of me. What is causing this? How can I fix my pop up? I feel like this is really limiting my improvement and would love to get help on this.

Hey guys,
I’m new to the community and OMBE, loving it so far! I’ve been working on my walk up and relaxing in the water and the bus stop analogy has done wonders, I’m no longer second guessing myself with positioning.
I just had a question as me and my friends always have arguments about this.
So if you are surfing fat waves all the time can this effect your pop up for when you go into steeper waves?
Or is the problem not actually in the wave but in the pop up itself. I understand a steeper wave is going to give you more lift/push but if you position yourself correctly on a fat wave does it really matter?
Thanks,
Laura
