For anyone in the UK, Surfers Against Sewage are organising countrywide paddle-out protests to complain about the state of our rivers and seas next Saturday, the 17th of May.

I'm planning to be at the Hayling Island event, look for the guy with long grey hair in a pony tail š
Hey ombe crew ! I just came back from Sydney urbnsurf with some footage. I have been working with all the fantastic coaches at the bowl lab on the GC in the last couple of months and I really switched my surf from flat to almost a full top to bottom, which is incredible! I feel like Iām still needing more work on getting vertical and move my body efficiently! Whatās your thoughts ?
Thanks in advance š¤and big thanks to Jack and Ray for taking me to a different level !
I remember Clayton Nienaber mentioned that white (standard) boards last longer than boards with color. I can't find that specific video, but would anyone be able to explain why? Google hasn't helped me in this endeavor either...
Exciting Changes Ahead! š
Weāve restructured our footage review process to make it more beneficial for everyone. While live sessions will be on pause as we adapt to new dynamics with our two candidates, weāre thrilled to announce a fresh approach: your submissions will now be reviewed and shared here in the community!
Hereās why weāre embracing this new method:
āļøMore Engagement: Posting reviews here encourages interaction and brings our quieter members into the conversation. Lives were limiting, as only those free at the time could participate.
āļøFlexibility for Clay: With a packed schedule of retreats next year, this setup allows Clay to review submissions remotely during his downtimeāensuring faster and more consistent feedback.
āļøEasier Access: Every review and takeaway will be visible to everyone, making it simpler to learn and improve without sifting through past live sessions.
āļøFocused Feedback: This organized system will help you concentrate on specific areas to improve.
š A few reminders:
⢠Submit one video at a time to give everyone a fair chance for feedback.
⢠Avoid submitting distant or surf-cam footageāClay needs clear visuals to provide effective, actionable advice.
We canāt thank you enough for your support, patience, and understanding as we work through these changes together. Your willingness to adapt and grow with us means the world, and weāre so appreciative of this amazing community. š
P.S. Iāve added a Google sheet in the comments for tracking your submissions. If youād like your older footage skipped, simply select āYā in column F. This will indicate youāre uploading newer training footage. If you select āN,ā Clay will proceed with reviewing your current submission. Let us know if you have any questions!
Hi everyone! Any advice on my snap/end turn? Iām pretty happy with my timing, bottom turn, and the initial arm movement, but Iām really struggling to complete the second half of the maneuver. I know I need to stay a bit more compressed, but aside from that, any tips? Really appreciate it!
Hi OMBE community, just looking for some tips on how to improve my surfing, cheers!
Hey crew. I wanted to share a breakthrough insight Iāve had recently. Iāve heard it said before in different ways, but I feel thereās been a switch flipped in my take off.
As best as I can explainā¦
Surfing doesnāt start when I stand up. It starts as I paddle for the wave. More so it starts the first hint of lift and energy from the wave. Now Iām looking where I want to go and adjusting the front to back and side to side angle of the board to surf the wave. Now as I stand up, Iāve gotta be smooth to not upset that planing and angle Iāve chosen to get into the wave. Iām still surfing the wave right through the process of getting to my feet. Now, hopefully my feet are in the right spot on the board, but even if not, Iām still surfing the wave as it seems most appropriate to do at that time as best as I can. Looking and feeling the wave and the board and getting into that athletic fighting/ sprinting stance to be ready to do the next appropriate thing.
Bit of an obvious one I guess, but really concentrating on this has completely transformed my take off.
Big love.
