Yeah, you’re paddling way too early. I would say about 11-12 strokes too early. Looks like a really fun wave!

I find that I’m A.L.W.A.Y.S. adjusting my back foot, even at the popup. My left (rear) leg had been hit in a serious car accident when I was younger and the position my feet land in never feels right when I pop up, I’m not even always aware of it, it’s just instinctual. I notice it in videos. If your weight is truly on your front foot, adjustments to your back foot should be super easy.
