So minus the fact my hands are NOT up high enough, is this the straight back position I need? Or is that still not upright enough.

I am slightly confused on the straight back vs having my head over my front knee and toe.

I realize in the clips my arms are not high enough, I was working on that later just not included with the clips I uploaded. But I feel like if my back was more upright I might be too much on the back foot.

Thanks for the help and comments. Trying my best to apply the constructive criticism and improve.

The other end of the bowl is more squared off and does NOT have that little hip. Not really sure if that would make the turns harder or not. The hip does help getting you moving in the right direction on the backside turn. I'll give it a few attempts at the other end next time I go.

Not a fan of the 2nd down on the left or bottom one on right. Maybe I'm prejudice against bubble letters. The others are cool.

Ill give it my best coach.

Michiel van Gerven the main issue I'm having is just the lack of time between the 2 turns, because it's such a tight gap if I don't get my head super low I can't, at this point anyway, get into the backhand quick enough and I end up going almost straight up the roll in.

My thoughts at this point are I need to enter turn one sooner, ie before the corner, and get more vertical to give myself more time to switch over to the backhand. If I take the front side (1st) turn wider, it's putting me half way up the roll in before I have time to weight into the backside turn.

I also feel like I need to drop that back knee lower, to get more weight over the toe side rail sooner. As well as getting my left arm up and throwing it over kind of like Clayton demonstrates in his roundhouse cutback videos. Like I'm hitting the foam and letting the foam push me through the turn.

Gonna play with it more and more till I get it figured out.

Michiel van Gerven OMBE should make T-shirts... All aboard the struggle bus... embrace the suck!

This was sort of the problem I was having trying to utilize more of the roundness off the hip, the roll-in was kinda jack knifing my front truck, because of the angle I was approaching it at and the angle the roll in comes in at. It was kinda bringing me to an abrupt halt and wanting to pitch me forward and face plant me into the lip.

I'm gonna keep at it, watching the video back I feel like I really need to get my back knee lower, kissing the front more, so I can absorb the corner more and not come to such an off balance position.

It's certainly fun to try, cause it's such a tight turn and happens so quickly going forside to backside.

Yea, I'm trying to take different approach angles at it. I'd like to be able to use the curve starting at the hip, just gotta find the right angle to approach it from. It's definitely more difficult than I thought it would be.

I mean honestly you form/technique seems okay to me. I think you may need to progress to a board with more rocker instead of the foamie it looks like your riding. Maybe the wave pool has something you can rent and try out. Something in the high 6 to 7 foot range. Narrower nose, little more rocker.

The board your riding to me looks really flat and it's gonna be difficult to get that up and down pump going on that.

Clayton can chime in here and tell me I'm wrong, he would obviously know a lot better than me, but that's what I felt watching the clip.

Laughed out loud at "I've never been allowed to push the buttons."
