Graham Marsden those are still slow compared to dragons... not sure why it works that way. Also bones red or ceramic Swiss bearings will make a huge difference

You do need more speed. Bad news is you are fighting a losing battle if you are still using carver roundhouse wheels or other similar.

The speed difference is amazing. The Carver wheels are designed for grip and traction for the wiggle or carving a street. They are NOT designed for smooth park surfaces. Even the Carver park wheels are slow compared to these. When you have the right wheels the speed will come much easier. I struggled with the same issue till I learned better.

Used to be in Sea Isle all the time. Heritage shaped my first learn to surf board. I used to surf mostly Ocean City or Brigantine, or up near Manasquan or LBI.

I miss the NJ waves, they were definitely better up there. Here the water is super warm, rash guard and trunks since May, but the shelf extends off the coast much further here so our surf is usually tiny. That's why I'll drive to Wrightsville if I know a storm is coming. It's only about 90 minutes north but gets you about 50 miles further our ocean wise. Get more powerful swell up there.

I also have family in Southern NJ still, so again if it's gonna be firing I could always plan a meeting up trip.

Myrtle beach, SC. I travel up to Wrightsville Beach, NC area when I know it's going to be good. I am not beyond gonna up even further to the Outer Banks or down to Florida if it's gonna be firing and I know far enough in advance to make the trip.

Myrtle Beach is also "supposed" to get a wave garden wave pool some point in the future. I used "supposed" because it's been planned for years and hasn't started yet, but this year they did claim to get final approval.

Whelp, according to John John's Facebook post 5 mins ago, he won't be competing this year. Taking the year to sail on his boat and explore new waves, so already benching my top pick.

Rohan the norm at least per skateboarding is frontside is front facing ramp or wave. At least it is when I youtube frontside grind videos or whatever.

I was getting that backside (2nd) turn in quicker today with less pause at the top. Just really focusing on compressing that back knee through the turn as much as I can makes it whip around quicker and gets me more towards inverted so my board can pivot around me.

Few more sessions and I figure I'll have it locked it and than I can work on pushing it up higher towards the coping.

Rohan okay that does make sense. Typically though frontside/backside refers the which part is facing the wave or the ramp in this case, which is why it confused me.

I know typically, if surfing, I would want that second turn to be quicker. And for that you are correct I do need to stop looking left and get my head around quicker, I'd also like to be a little more leaned in towards the bowl to snap it around quicker and get my head lower.

I would also like to carve that turn around the bowl corner as well just to help keep the flow while skating it, and possibly get myself up onto the coping. So I plan on practicing and perfecting both versions in time.
