Here’s a great example of me missing waves. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am trying to stay relaxed and not waste energy, I just feel like I am dead weight as the wave passes me by. I am trying to arch my back, but I just can’t pick-up the wave. I see others just glide in with 2 strokes at my same location. My board volume should be on the money 195pds=38 liters - this was a rnf96. Please help. Thank you

So the feedback from the other day was great and I really think you started to uncover what is going on with my current pop-up situation. This video is a better shot of what I seem to be doing (especially on my backhand).

Clayton mentioned “stand-up”, but I could really use some more insight why I keep grabbing the damn rails and popping-up so low and squatted. I do think there is something there with the late take-offs, but feel there is more I am missing. Thanks all for your help!

So I am stuck with this sh$tty take-off and pop-up on small waves. Lifetime surfer that seems to have regressed back to the basics….

So some backstory is that I injured my shoulder surfing about 2 years ago and my paddle strength is not the best. I feel like I struggle catching the wave and end-up on late drops. If I do get to my feet, I usually fall within the first few seconds, as my board speed feels way off.

I know these waves kinda sucked in this video, but seems to carry through on all small waves. For whatever reason, I usually make medium to large waves without this happening?

Thoughts??? Thanks all
