Nice wave, but it looks like you're waiting too long to do your bottom turn so you end up in the flats and then try to force a top turn halfway up the face.

I think if you looked and got onto the rail earlier, you'd be able to get up to the lip and do a much better turn 👍

I can't really comment on the board choice, but The Wave does have a selection of boards that you can hire for your sessions.

On your walk up, your back knee starts by sticking out to the side, but then it stays there instead of pointing the way you want to go.

Can you bring it straight forward which should stop you having to push your hip over the rail?

Angling the take off so the board fits into the curve of the wave and doesn't nose dive is exactly the right technique as is pausing on the glide phase to look at the wave and decide on your line.

You shouldn't need to put your butt over the rail, your hips should come up square and your head should be over the rail.

When you walk up, try to bring your knee straight through instead of having it sticking out to the side.

I agree your weight seems to be on the back foot, try squeezing your butt to get your hips forward, also your top and bottom halves appear to be disconnected, your arms are doing a lot, but it's not affecting the board very much.

You do seem to be looking at the wave as you're riding, which is good 👍

Firstly, as I mentioned in a post to Scott Wagenblast recently where he's practicing on the Bosu ball, don't worry too much about the back foot, it's the front leg that's important.

On the Forehand turn your leading arm is blocking your twist. Lift your elbow and put it in your back pocket and you'll be able to open up more.

Your knees are kissing a bit (eg when you go from left to right across the bowl), if you can lunge forward a bit more and turn your back hip more towards the nose, the back knee can bend more.

Also look online for exercises to improve your ankle dorsiflexion which should help.

A couple of suggestions:

1) I think your arms are doing the wrong things: your back (coffee cup) arm is going up instead of passing the coffee through the turn, while your front arm is blocking your twist instead of you lifting the elbow and putting it into your back pocket.

2) it looks like you're rushing the turns, trying to use your body to force the board to turn, this, combined with the arms, tends to put you on your back foot which is why you fall at the end.

Slow things down and you may find it easier 🙂
