The first question would be "what level of surfer are you?"
As well as the 4 lines content (which may be a bit technically oriented for some) there's the Surf Start and Surf Smart programmes which walk you through everything from having never touched a surf board before to advanced techniques.
Go through those from the start (you can often pick up useful tips even from the earlier stuff) and find the parts that are relevant to your current skill level.

To quote Ant from a long time ago, you want to keep your body straight like a pencil.
Concentrate on keeping your feet together and squeeze your butt to help you arch your back and it should be easier.
Also, yes, I think you need to get your back foot at 45 degrees from the nose so your back knee can kiss the front one, instead of pointing towards the rail.
