Tempted to ask if you've got any footage 🤪 but if you're executing top turns are you twisting, snapping or carving? I think Clay would say that you need to repeat your take off, looking where you want to go next and adopting the forward facing sprint position, with your coffee cup arm up and pointing where you want to go. It's more of a lunge than a bend?

Hi Brian. I have a 7ft 8 Ryan Marco mini mal and, like you, can feel the lift on most waves and execute the Oreo without any issues. I also have a 6ft Puddle Jumper and at 42 litres I can still do the Oreo take off on the shoulder but you can't rely on feeling the tail lift unless you're closer to the pocket or on steeper waves. What size waves and where on the wave are you trying to take off?

I've got a 7ft 8 but it's set up as a thruster, so not sure I can offer much but I think the single fin will cause the board to behave differently on turns. Clay did a whole session on fins and how they affect the way the board behaves on and off rail.

Jake Westmoreland how was the board test at the Wave?

Clayton Nienaber did a video where he tested various tail shapes in a wave pool. For easier Take-off I think he was surprised to find the square or squash tail performed best. Try and hire a Lost Mayhem Puddle Jumper or similar. Mine is a 6ft with 42 litres and is good in most waves under 6ft. Not that I've attempted anything over 3 to 4ft yet 🙃 You're looking at £300 to £450 for a 2nd hand PJ.
