Got a GoPro to film myself and it was a shock. Thought I was better than this.
First issue I found, is too tense, not blowing out. Second back hand is not coming to the front.
Felt very good on the wave.
Any advice please.

Hi Michael, Paddling, Oreo, Glide, Looking and Walk Up all very good to me but once you do pop up, you're very side on. If you can bring that back hand forward (coffee cup) it will put you more Front On and then your bend will become more of a forward lunge, allowing you kiss the back knee and touch the wave face in front of you as you look up to the top of the lip. You do touch the wave face with your back hand but I think it's too far back?

What board are you riding and what were you trying to do that you think you could have done better on that wave?

Hey Michael my stance is terrible Everytime I go to the pool so I can be videoed I think I am facing forward I race home down load the videos and bloody hell I am still sideways and yet I could swear I was facing forward

I was going through some OMBE tutorials and heard Clayton add something that clicked for me

I don’t know what you are unhappy with in your video I am a beginner but if it is the whole sideways poo man issue this is what made sense to me

To do the coffee cup you have to rotate the shoulders not to difficult but what about when you try to add the kissing knees

There is a lovely skate shot of Clayton riding down the street he is bent at the waist yet his butt isn’t sticking out, he is compressed at the knees and his rear knee is tucked nicely in behind the front one They are kissing How can he possibly look so comfortable natural and fluid in that position

Why can’t I find that posture

If you mimic your surf stance on the ground can you get your back knee to bend to reach the front knee with out applying a whole lot of sideways pressure on the knee joint I couldn’t but I buggered my knee trying

Then in a more advanced video I heard Clayton mention the pelvis then I got it The pelvis also has to face forward I don’t know how far but to hazard a guess as far as your front hip will rotate internally with the foot at that 45 degree angle

The hip joint has all those big butt muscles to support it when rotated and it frees up the back leg to move more freely

And when you bend at the waist the butt goes backwards not out to the side like poo man

All my posts come with a warning I am a beginner I have no degree in anatomy but the body fascinates me so I am my own Guinea pig for better or worse it is trial and error

But I have had a few too many errors lately so be careful with your body especially if you start twisting more Go slow and gentle

Finally everything I have written could be a load of bullshit for you But it is true for me If you give it a try would love to hear how you get on

Your take off seems good, you glide in and look down the line, but it appears that your back foot is turned at more than 90 degrees from the nose which is causing the poo-man stance.

If you can get that fixed it should help you get front on so you can stack on the front foot with the coffee cup arm forward.
