Agree with Grahams comment that back arm needs to be ahead of the front arm to get you more front on.
Also I find it helpful to throw my hands up towards your target on the transition. It will help you learn to unweight and get you higher up the slope to then gain more speed on the way down.
I just learned transition skating myself so I know how scary it can be. I found it helpful to fully pad up...elbows, knees, helmet, wrist guards and even hip pads. It helped me get over the fear of falling cause I felt protected and that really helped me work my way higher up the transition.
Keep at it...it will come.

Beginner. But improving every surf, when I actually get some. Have improved my bowl riding a ton from where I started 5 months ago, hoping in translates into my surfing the next time we get some swell.
