Maria Molè it's apparently been in the works for a while. But a few months ago they got final approval so hopefully soon.

Maria Molè that seems insane for a membership and fees. For 15k a year I'd just take a nice vacation to Hawaii.

I'm from NJ originally, South NJ, like Atlantic City and Ocean city, we're my go to surf spots. Now I live in Myrtle. The water is warmer, haven't even worn my 4/3 since being here.

We do get less waves than NJ, but I just drive an hour north to Wrightsville Beach for decent swell. If it's really going to be good, I can also hit up the outer banks in NC, if I'm lucky enough for the swell to be on a weekend.

Myrtle beach is getting a surfworks pool supposedly in 2026. It's less than a 2 hour flight from NY. And even in winter here a 3/2 wetsuit would probably be enough. Also it is less than a 10 min drive from myrtle beach Airport to where the park will be. I've already got a cone holding my spot in line to be the first to sign up for the lifetime membership.

Before I injured my shoulder:

Back squats with barbell (can do Dumbbell or goblet squats if no barbell)

Deadlift

Push-ups weighted or benchpress

Barbell bent over row

Military press or pull-up

Dips weighted

Walking lunge with rotation using medicine ball

Plank (max time)

All exercises 6-8 reps. If more than 8 reps increase weight. 3 times per week.

Cardio on 2 off days (I use rowing machine cause I despise running)

Other 2 days either foam rolling or breathe work. Use some Apnea trainer I downloaded.

Stretching before every workout and lightly again after.

If you want variety I strongly recommend you check out surfstrengthcoach. Programs of all kinds, bodyweight, with weights, stretch protocols, etc.

Yewwwww!

Beginner. But improving every surf, when I actually get some. Have improved my bowl riding a ton from where I started 5 months ago, hoping in translates into my surfing the next time we get some swell.

Agree with Grahams comment that back arm needs to be ahead of the front arm to get you more front on.

Also I find it helpful to throw my hands up towards your target on the transition. It will help you learn to unweight and get you higher up the slope to then gain more speed on the way down.

I just learned transition skating myself so I know how scary it can be. I found it helpful to fully pad up...elbows, knees, helmet, wrist guards and even hip pads. It helped me get over the fear of falling cause I felt protected and that really helped me work my way higher up the transition.

Keep at it...it will come.

Your last 2 turns or pumps, however you want to refer to then are your best ones. That is the motion you need not that side to side wiggle. Throw those hands up towards your target and extend on the up, compress onto the front foot at the peak to weight your way back down the ramp with speed.

Same problem I have. I can pop up great natural. If you use the what foot do you kick a ball with, that should be your back foot then I'd be natural. I can't even pop-up goofy while surfing.

You put me on a surfskate and I'm so much better goofy. If you use what beginner skateboard videos tell you to do running and imagining your sliding on ice then I'd be goofy also.

I've been teaching myself to skate natural and it's been a long process and it still feels better to skate goofy. Pushing off is easier. Balancing is easy. Being weighted over my front foot is easier.

I am debating with myself if I should just skate goofy and spend the time teaching myself to surf goofy as well. I'm equally terrible at both so I don't know.

You can teach yourself to skate the opposite way. I've done it myself. If you figure out the right answer let me know cause I'm just as confused as you are.
