Anyone have specific board recommendations for line 3? Im surfing in florida where the waves are generally pretty mushy and powerless. I’m currently riding a 7’2 nsp funboard and I definitely feel like Ive moved on to line 3 and am now looking for something more responsive. Since Im dealing with mushy soft waves I know (based off watching everything i could find on this site) that i want something with a wider nose and a swallow tail. I’m just not sure what brands, specific boards, and dimensions I should be looking at getting.

I’m 5’9 (175 cm) and weigh 195 lbs (88 kg)

New seat..same old struggle bus. Really enjoying the suck though. Managed to chip a fairly big piece of concrete off the bowl on this first one.
Last one is about as close as I got. I'm gonna get it though...just takes time.
Feel like I could have made that last one IF I would have looked to the next target and not been so scared of that little ledge from the roll in, and IF I kept my left arm out in front instead of letting it get all crazy like.
So there's the goals for tomorrow....
Would also like to add here: I do realize my arms are low, and as Coach Clayton says I should point where I'm going. I was working on that as I got more comfortable with the angles of approach so that I could work on getting under that little ledge. I just didn't include those clips. BUT I do realize it needs to be fixed. Small progress every day.

Hey guys does anyone have any tips for not bogging the rail on the bottom turn on smaller days?

For reference im surfing a 7’2 NSP funboard.

I try to drop to the bottom of the wave before starting the bottom turn to get the most speed possible, but anytime I lean into the turn it just sinks my rail and I either lose all my speed or just completely push the board under water.

What am I doing wrong, and are there any drills that I could be doing to work this out?

All aboard the struggle bus as I try to work out doing figure 8s....
Posting more as a way to keep myself motivated as I work towards the goal but comments are always welcome.
These are some of my "better" (LOL) attempts. I feel like getting my head low is really gonna be the only way to make the turn radius on the second half. After watching these, realize I definitely have to get my left arm up higher (above my head even) to hopefully help whip the board around. I can also lunge more, try to get the knees lower. I'll be giving those ideas a go tomorrow.

The better ones from today.

Hi again,
Here I tried to implement the lifting up with my body. It was the same session than the bad ones, more bad ones at the end of the session. I was struggling with paddel power and could only catch waves when the surfcoached pushed my board into the wave… I feel like waiting too long after takeoff and then often surfing into the flat.

Any feedback welcome :-)

Cheers from Surftown,
Reinhard

PS: Started training with a BOSU ball, I think this helped me so much!
