An important update for the OMBE community

Hi everyone,

We want to share an important update about OMBE and what comes next.

Clayton has now moved on from the business. We’re grateful for everything he contributed to OMBE and the impact his coaching has had on surfers around the world. We genuinely wish him all the best for the future.

As part of this transition, Clayton has legally required that the current OMBE platform be taken down in 12 months. We understand this will create questions—particularly for our lifetime members. Please know that we are actively working on a plan to protect the value of your membership and provide a clear pathway forward. We will communicate the details well before any changes take effect.

While the current platform has a defined timeline, this is not the end of what we’re building. It marks the beginning of a much bigger new chapter.

OMBE is now part of the broader SurfLab group, and we have assembled an extraordinary team to help build the next generation of surf coaching.

Jarrad Howse has joined SurfLab as our Director of Surfing. Jarrad is a former Championship Tour surfer and elite performance coach who has worked with some of the biggest names in professional surfing, including three-time world champion Mick Fanning, Julian Wilson and Jordy Smith.

We have also welcomed Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew AM as a SurfLab ambassador. Rabbit is the 1978 World Surfing Champion, a former President and CEO of the Association of Surfing Professionals, a member of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and one of the most influential figures in the history of professional surfing.

We’ve also expanded the group through the acquisition of:

• World Surfaris, one of the world’s leading specialist surf travel businesses, giving our community access to incredible surfing destinations and experiences around the world.

• Surf Strength Coach, led by respected surf performance coach Cris Mills, bringing world-class strength, mobility and surf-specific physical training into the ecosystem.

Together, we’re developing an entirely new SurfLab coaching experience that will bring surfing, coaching, fitness and travel together in one connected platform. This includes:

• AI-powered surf analysis and personalised feedback

• Completely rebuilt coursework based on our new Five Lines progression system

• Surf-specific strength, mobility and performance programs

• More practical tools to help you understand what to work on and how to improve

• Opportunities to apply your coaching through curated surf trips and experiences

• New ways to connect with our coaches and the wider surfing community

Most importantly, we want you to help shape what comes next.

Over the coming months, we’ll be creating more opportunities to speak with the community, hear what has been most valuable about OMBE, understand where you need more support and learn how we can be genuinely more helpful in your surfing journey.

There is nothing you need to do right now. The OMBE platform will continue operating during the transition period, and we’ll provide plenty of notice before anything changes.
