Exciting Changes Ahead! 🌊We’ve restructured our footage review process to make it more beneficial for everyone. While live sessions will be on pause as we adapt to new dynamics with our two candidates, we’re thrilled to announce a fresh approach: your submissions will now be reviewed and shared here in the community! Here’s why we’re embracing this new method:✔️More Engagement: Posting reviews here encourages interaction and brings our quieter members into the conversation. Lives were limiting, as only those free at the time could participate.✔️Flexibility for Clay: With a packed schedule of retreats next year, this setup allows Clay to review submissions remotely during his downtime—ensuring faster and more consistent feedback.✔️Easier Access: Every review and takeaway will be visible to everyone, making it simpler to learn and improve without sifting through past live sessions.✔️Focused Feedback: This organized system will help you concentrate on specific areas to improve.🔔 A few reminders: • Submit one video at a time to give everyone a fair chance for feedback. • Avoid submitting distant or surf-cam footage—Clay needs clear visuals to provide effective, actionable advice. We can’t thank you enough for your support, patience, and understanding as we work through these changes together. Your willingness to adapt and grow with us means the world, and we’re so appreciative of this amazing community. 🙏P.S. I’ve added a Google sheet in the comments for tracking your submissions. If you’d like your older footage skipped, simply select “Y” in column F. This will indicate you’re uploading newer training footage. If you select “N,” Clay will proceed with reviewing your current submission. Let us know if you have any questions!

Is there a video discussing angling the take off along with Oreo biscuit? Feels like the Oreo wants to be pointed straight to the beach

Anyone struggling with making the transition from simply gliding across the face of the wave to going straight down the wave to set up for bottom turns?  I feel like I'm going back to my beginner days by going straight down.  Any advice on how to make this transition?  Should I still be angling my takeoffs and look for sections to drop and try bottom turns or initiate bottom turns with all waves?  I don't see any videos about this specifically.  Thanks in advance!

Was so stoked I wanted to share. My 7 year olds first proper wave. Forgive the overly excited Dad yell... honestly it was enough to bring me to tears. My 9 year old, that didn't want to do Surf Camp got a couple bombs as well.

Hoped they get hooked for life and give me 2 permanent surf buddies. Is it too soon to order them a couple of Grom Sci-fi boards?

Hey, I thought I’d post here about my recent trip to Sri Lanka. First off, I loved it. I met some great people and scored some great waves.

Normally, I spend most of my time surfing in wave pools in Bristol, in the UK, so what I found really hard was actually the line-up in the ocean — and most of that difficulty was just in my head. My mind was getting in the way.

To explain this better: I was surfing the best point break in Sri Lanka, and because of that, the line-up was rammed — maybe 50 people in the water, all sorts of abilities, people dropping in all over the place — but very long rides.

For the first session, I kind of just sat on the shoulder a bit and watched. I could see who was getting the most waves and where the take-off point was. It was a fairly small area, but I just didn’t have the confidence to sit there. I was so bothered about the people around me, and whether I was even good enough to be in that spot.

Anyway, even after knowing all this and having a good talk with myself in my room the next day, I still couldn’t find the confidence to sit in the right place in the line-up — even though I knew what I should be doing. At that point, I was catching about one wave per hour!

It was only when I found the ‘Surf Psychology’ course on the OMBE app that I was able to reframe what was going on in my mind. The next day, I sat in the take-off zone and caught a load of waves. I just had to get my mind out of the way.

Below is a clip of my surfing in Sri Lanka. It’s not my best surfing, and there’s plenty wrong with my technique on this wave — but that’s not really the point of this post. It’s more about understanding that sometimes, it’s what’s going on in your mind that matters more than how your body moves

I haven't been surfing for a few months now... Last surf was in April - I know... Sacrilege! Most of the weekends that I went to Jbay the waves just weren't there, or the wind was blowing them flat, or there was a competition on... It has been as if the universe has been against me... I even went to Victoria Bay thinking I would at least get a surf in only to find out there was a friggen competition on... TWICE!! I couldn't believe it... I went to seal point in Cape St Francis and guess what... There were no waves at Seals Point and a competition at the beach break... My surf stoke has been dwindling big time!

Last week was the Corona Open in JBay... Unfortunately due to family commitments we were away the first weekend and the waves were so good we missed the opening rounds, the elimination rounds and the round of 16 as well... And of course Jordy didn't make the finals so we didn't even get to see him surf live either... Fortunately we were there for the finals and man!! What a day.... Waves were epic, surfing was epic, and I have never seen so many people on the beach in front of Super Tubes as we did that day... Was EPIC and seriously one for the books. Made up for all the days we missed!

I did manage to get one surf sesh in on a not so crowded day so that was really fantastic... Not that my surfing was great... Well actually, I was surfing ok considering I haven't surfed in so long... Only issue is that I only rode one wave in 2 hours... Not because of the crowd, but because I just could not get on a wave at all... I was struggling big time... I am so unfit and just didn't have the paddle power at all and the Dalhberg requires fitness and paddle power so I struggled and my body felt it for 4 days after... lol.

Anyways, in an attempt to revive the stoke, I am going to post a few older vids that I have not shared yet... So to start it off, this was of a wave from my last session in April. Struggling to get it loaded here so I have to link it to YouTube.

My struggles... The top turn twist... Seems like I get to a point in the twist and then stop... As if in my mind that position is the final place. Much easier to get technique right-ish when it's calm and smooth... I was surfing Tubes this day, which is very fast and over shallow reef... I notice in high risk moments I still revert to the most engrained habits... which usually are the bad ones... Never the less... Feedback from other perspectives is always helpful and welcome!

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all getting some!

I had the pleasure of surfing 2 sessions at LostShore in Edinburgh today, it was loads of fun and their new Flowstate video system is excellent for seeing what you’re doing so I highly recommend giving it a go if you can. Normally a longboarder but I borrowed a 7’2" FireWire Boss Up which was really good fun.

After the initial disappointment at seeing myself surf 😂 I’ve identified loaaaaaads of stuff I’m not doing right or could improve but it’d be great to hear your insights plus any drills I should be focussing on to get better.

The videos are my 2 best waves from each session, I think I did slightly improve a couple of things after reviewing the video of the first session but that might just have been the punchier setting helping me along 😂

Cheers guys 💙
