Anyone have any tips on how to recover while still at the beach? I go out any morning that we actually have waves here In South Florida. Out here we usually only get windswells which comes with tons of current, so Iā€™m constantly paddling just to stay In position. My paddle strength and stamina has gotten a lot better over time thanks to following all the excersizes on this site however I can usually only last about an hour and a half before Iā€™m completely drained. At this point Im usually pretty stubborn and try push through being tired but my surfing starts to really go downhill as a result.

Should I just go back in to the beach and try to rest for a little while, or should I just be calling it quits on the session at this point?

Also is there anything I can do while still out the back to avoid getting tired?

I just wanted to make a post to say thank you very much for making the pre pop up course. I recently transitioned over to a 7ā€™2 epoxy board coming down from an 8ā€™0 soft top, and I was no longer able to figure out the timing of my takeoff. I found the pre pop up course after searching this app for what is possibly going wrong and wow it was a complete game changer. I had the most sucessful session of surfing today that Ive ever had. So this post is just to say thank you so much for making such great content, and for anyone on here struggling with your takeoff make sure you check out the pre pop up course!

Sincerely,
One extremely satisfied member of this site.

I had a question about getting out the back.
Where I surf here in South Florida its all beach breaks, and we really only get waves from wind swells. On days where it gets bigger the sets come in with virtually no lull and there is so much current that its incredibly hard to make it out the back.

I do surf right by a pier and this morning, after a couple of failed attempts to make it out the back, I watched a few more advanced surfers paddle out no problem by paddling right along the pier. They were pretty much almost touching the pylons thats how close they were. They were on the south side of the pier and the current was ripping south so it does make sense that the pylons would cut off some of that current.

I was just wondering if this is a typical thing to do and if you guys think this is something worth working on and getting used to? Or if this is just very much so specific to the conditions at my pier this morning.

Also Iā€™m very aware that Ive been asking a lot of questions in this community lately and Iā€™m very greatful for all of your responses!

How bad is chlorine for an epoxy board?
As per your guys advice I went out and bought a 7ā€™2 nsp funboard as my first real board because it was time to move off my soft top. I took it out a few times while it was 1-2 foot and it was awesome, however the next few weeks here in florida are going to be a lot bigger than 1-2 so Iā€™m going to need to seriously start working on duck diving. Can I practice in my pool or will the chlorine damage my board? Also does anyone have any other good recommendations for how to practice duck diving? (Other than the bosu push unders, Im working on the intermediate pathway so Ive already been working on those.)
Thanks guys!

Which board should I be looking to buy next?

I currently ride an 8 foot soft top and am able to ride down the line in both directions no problem just from angling my takeoff. Im looking into purchasing a midlength to start learning how trim properly and generate speed.

Iā€™m 5ā€™9ā€ and weigh 195 lbs. Also Iā€™m surfing in Florida where the waves are generally pretty mushy. Does anyone have any recommendations for either specific boards, or at least some dimensions that I should be looking at buying?

Thanks guys!

(Also I completeded the beginner pathway, which was awesome, and have moved on to the intermediate pathway. Which is another reason why i think its time to graduate from my soft top.)

Hey guys I have a board question,
I watched the choosing the right board series and Iā€™m still a little confused as to which board I should buy.

Im currently at the upper beginner level riding an 8 foot soft top. I can paddle out the back, position, catch waves and pop up with no problem but im having a real tough time turning the soft top to start cutting across the face of the wave.

I would like to move to something smaller because Id like bottom turns to be easier. Also Id like to invest in a board that im going to use all throughout the intermediate stage where I can eventually start working on turns and surfing the wave from top to bottom.

I surf in south florida most of the time, where we get mainly mushy wind breaks. However I do go to some of the better breaks in centeral and north florida usually around like once a week.

Also Im 5ā€™8ā€ and weigh 200 lbs

Any reccomendations for what kind of board I should buy?
