Hello community- any recommendations for gaining paddling fitness while living in the desert of Utah? Should I freestyle swim at a fitness pool? Or put a floatation device under me and actually paddle in the pool? Or Tricep intensive power lifting? Any suggestions? I am fit for rock climbing but when I go on surf trips find my triceps limit my paddling stamina.

Any recommendations for beginner surfboard? I’m looking at 9 foot long soft tops. But not sure what brand or other features to shop for.
